Welcome to Total Submission
Total submission was birthed from a yearning to BE submitted to the Lord—to have that kind of faith to know, at your deepest core, that God is good.
In 1 Chronicles 21, we learn that King David decides to take a census of the people of Israel—a move that displeases the Lord and brings about punishment. This displeased the Lord because it showed that, in that moment, David was perhaps trusting in numbers (the amount of army power, pride, self-reliance) rather than trusting in God alone for his sustenance. When God speaks to David, he realizes his sin. God gives him three options as his punishment because of his sins.
In verse 13, David proclaims:
"I am in great distress. Let me fall into the hand of the Lord, for his mercy is very great, but let me not fall into the hand of man." (ESV)
Right here. David knew the Lord so intimately that even in a moment of pain, sin, and punishment, he knew that God is good. He is merciful. And even in a moment to face his shortcomings, he would rather be in the hands of the Living God than anywhere else!
This is my heart in writing my reflections and sharing them with you. One, the Lord has told me to. Two, it is the tug of my heart to know God this intimately—to trust in His goodness in all situations.
May we both find this kind of relationship with the Lord.

About
Hi, I am Lis Toledo - Happy you're here.
I came to know Jesus through small groups in high school at the age of 15. Life has since been an interesting journey with many twists and turns, but no matter where I’ve gone, God has remained faithful and patient with me. He never left me in my sin and despair. He has stayed faithful and has brought me out each time.
Everything and anything good in me is a testament to who Jesus is!
He is the source of more than a decade of blessing in my marriage. He is the One who leads me as I teach, guide, and instill the goodness of Jesus at our homeschool table with my three children. He is the One who enables me to listen and be present as I sit with my patients as a therapist. He is the One who teaches me to sit in community rather than withdraw to my own island of thoughts. He is the One who has carried me through my lowest moments, when the enemy has tried to end my life.
This is real life. Even on my best days, I still fall short somewhere.
I am not perfect. I need Jesus—daily. And here we are, together in our imperfection, coming together to reflect on what the Lord has done for us. I am here for you if you would like to pray. I am here for you if you simply want to share.
